Well, Cricket is cricket irrespective of what ball it is played with. It is pathetic to see that cricket played using tennis balls is not accepted as a form of cricket. Not pertaining to this stupid judgement but most of the cricket organisations themselves think of Tennis Ball Cricket is substantard. With time, we have seen that international cricket has evolved and tennis ball cricket is a part of this evolution where you do not require a prepared pitch and protective equpment is optional.

Taped-tennis balls re more common in Pakistan than tennis balls. Thats where bowlers learnt he art of reverse swing as well. When the tape starts tearing due to the rough streets bowlers can swing the ball... the ball swings in the direction which is heavier, ie on the side where the tape is more.

Its fun.. u c guys tampering, ie taking the tape off.. batsmen check the ball every now and then to see the tape is fine and ask for more tape layers.

The same holds true in Chennai. Very rarely we tape the tennis ball. In order to purchasse it we used to go to the YMCA to get used tennis balls at a discount.

Something close to cricket ball we played in our earlier days was a cork ball and another hard ball we used to play was something called 'Spencer's was spongy but stung when it hit the thigh.

I grew up playing cricket with a tennis ball with electric tape wrapped around it.. I first played cricket with a cricket ball when I was 12 thanks to my school but I know guys, even international cricketers who played "tape-tennis ball" cricket till they were 16-17 before playing with a cricket ball.

Go around Pakistan, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and u'll see thousand of boys playing tape-tennis ball cricket on the streets.
