Australia’s premier quick Pat Cummins is nicely conscious of Chesteshwar Pujara’s capabilities, insisting that they may want to “take their medicine” to outlast the Indian center-order mainstay within the residence sequence this summer time.
Pujara’s exploits with the bat in India’s sequence win in 2018-19 continues to be contemporary in Cummins’ thoughts and he would love to keep away from a repeat of the identical within the upcoming tour. Pujara was the star of India’s breakthrough 2-1 sequence win over Australia, amassing 521 runs from 4 Tests at a median of 74.42 with three centuries and one fifty.
“He (Pujara) had a mammoth series for them (in 2018-19). He’s one of those players that’ll take his time, he’s in his own little bubble and he doesn’t get disturbed by too much,” Cummins informed cricket.com.au.
“We’ve got to find a way to outlast him if he bats the way he did last time. There wasn’t too much in the pitch so you couldn’t manufacture anything. So I think (we need to) take our medicine a bit more and try and outlast him.”
Cummins hopes the situations this time can be in Australia’s favour, saying they would wish to get the likes of Pujara out of his consolation zone to cease India.
“But we’ll wait and see. Hopefully the wickets are a bit bouncier (and) we’ve got a few more options,” he added. The 27-year-previous believes that he has developed as a bowler from the 2018-19 tour.
“I think each Test I play, I learn a little bit about my own bowling. I’ve probably played 10 or 15 Tests since that series and I feel like with each series I get a little bit better,” he stated.
“There have been a few classes; the primary lesson I learnt was how brutal Test cricket is. They would possibly bat all of day one and there’s nothing that’ll cease them batting all of day two until we take wickets, which they did a few instances.
“They confirmed us what you might have to be, what degree you might have to be at, to be the very best group on the earth.” Overall, Cummins, at present world no.1 Test bowler, feels Australia is much better outfitted to deal with the Indians now than final time.
“I think we’ll be ready for them this time,” he stated.
“Everyone’s a little extra skilled this time as a result of clearly we’ve acquired a couple of sophistication batters again within the aspect and somebody like Marnus (Labuschagne) has performed a bit extra and carried out brilliantly.
“So I really feel like we’re in a higher place.”
